Top 3 BBQ in town in my opinion. A little more consistency would be key because when it's good, it's gooooood. But even when it's not at its best, it's still pretty damn good! Looking forward to the new south side location!

First of all, let me comment on how great our server was. She knew the menu, was very attentive, answered our questions and gave us a Outstanding recommendations. Overall, the environment was clean, open and fresh. The food was quickly served, and it was hot and extremely good. The barbecue was outstanding. I had their three plate meat, combo with brisket, jalapeño cheese, sausage, and pulled pork. Their corn was surprisingly , good as when they first served it the word good didn't come to mine right away. LOL Overall the environment was pleasant to eat in. Allowed us to talk among our group. I highly recommend this place if you're in town and you want an atmosphere that's clean food that's good at a reasonable price.

Well, this evening I decided to give this place another shot. MUCH better than the last trip! It wasn't great, but definitely really good. The good: Brisket had an incredible bark. Slight peppery crunch when cutting it or biting. Super moist, just a major improvement since the last review. Sausage still doesn't seem house made but it was pretty decent. Good snap, not dried out. The "meh": Ribs...c'mon y'all! They were pretty dry, and still lacked seasoning. Would like to see a little more effort out in the ribs.

THIS PLACE IS OUT OF THIS WORLD. I enjoyed it a lot and the service was great! Food was HUGE. i ordered the salty spud with brisket and the prices are reasonable. I also got a piña colada and it was super tasty. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich and he could not finish it. I definitely recommend this place if stopping at Corpus Christi. Will be going again before leaving back home!

There are so many regional variations of barbecue in the US. But there are probably just as many throughout the great state of Texas. And those of us in the know, know that Central Texas-style is where it's at! Not that South Texas barbecue isn't great either. And with that, Salty Oak is your place if you are craving Central Texas-style barbecue in Corpus Christi. Recently reestablished to a bigger more convenient location. Good move on their part to meet their demands, because they are that good. I always order meats by the pounds because that's how I roll. I believe the sides are good to. Come on Saturday or Sunday for some amazing beef ribs. They run out of them fast though.

So glad we found this place! My husband got the salty oak and it was SO GOOD. Everything was tender and delish and perfectly seasoned. I have zero complaints and will definitely be returning! I came here to leave this review because I saw the others and they weren't great. The staff was very attentive, I'm assuming it was maybe the manager who came by to check and make sure everything was okay. I'm thinking this place really takes the criticism to make this place better. Definitely try this place.

Seems CC has got another legit barbecue joint on the Southside! I've been meaning to go there ever since they got their new location. FINALLY got have lunch and it did not disappoint. The place is small - parking is a serious challenge if you don't get there early. But they do have additional seating outside, under an awning. Inside, it is clean, open, with a good, down-home country vibe. The service is super-friendly. You order at the register and are handed a number. I ordered the brisket and sausage plate with beans and potato salad. It comes with all the pickles, onions, jalapeño and bread you would expect. For the brisket I told them I wanted both parts, lean and moist (flat and point, respectively) and they delivered. The brisket has some great flavor and a good measure of smoke - excellent bark. The moist meat was tender and juicy, but the lean was just a bit dry and a little more "chewy." BUT, all-in-all, good brisket. The sausage was excellent, though they don't make it in-house, yet. Oddly enough, the star of the plate is the BEANS! I often say "no bbq joint is famous for their sides," but Salty Oak may prove me wrong there. They're tender, VERY flavorful, with bits of brisket and sausage. Not mushy like so many other places are with their beans. Next time I go back, I may just get two orders for my sides. Prices are on point with other bbq places in town, but the portions are quite generous. A two-meat plate could easily feed two people. They're doing service right at Salty Oak. I'm not going to wait so long to go back. UPDATE: took home some ribs for later. WOW! The ribs are legit! Excellent pull and very tasty - good spice rub!

Came to Corpus to visit family and wanted some good BBQ! I searched around the area and found Salty Oak had great reviews. I asked my family about it and they stated the same, that Salty Oak was great. I drove to the location and it was at a small corner over looking the HEB across the street. Although it was small parking wasn't a real issue. Once you walk inside the business it sets off a country and Texan atmosphere. You could smell the aroma of brisket and sausage in the air while listening to country on the radio. I was greeted instantly and the menu was short and sweet, from plates, pounds of meat, to sandwich's. I ordered the Big Salty (a 2 lb sandwich with Brisket, Sausage, Pulled Pork and Coleslaw) and a Side Of potato-salad. The food ended up being amazing for a decent price. If you are looking for a great spot to have authentic Texan BBQ then this place is it! Love the taste and love the service and atmosphere! This place is a must!
